SONOMA, CA -
The inimitable M. Enid Arckless, born in Everett, MA on December 19, 1935, passed away on March 22 in Sonoma where she relocated 3 years ago to be closer to family.
Mrs. Arckless was a talented Interior Designer who worked in San Diego County for over 32 years on residential projects. She was a member of ASID California San Diego Chapter and participated in many showcase houses, often winning best room for her exceptional designs.
Enid, as she was affectionately known to coworkers and clients, combined an East Coast panache with functionality and tenacity in her work. One of her mottos, "leave no space to waste" she adamantly applied to her well thought out kitchens, which were often featured in magazines. She inspired many other designers and her clients now reap the benefits and are delighted that she is omnipresent in their homes as well as in their hearts.
Her zest for life and infectious laugh will be greatly missed. Enid is predeceased by her husband of 33 years Alan Arckless, and is survived by her daughter Elizabeth Gorman-Mazzone, son Jack Gorman, 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 17, at 11a.m. at Horizon Christian Fellowship in Rancho Santa Fe.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Enid’s memory to the Helen Woodward Animal Center in Rancho Santa Fe.
