Description
How can the spaces we design help people truly rest, restore, and recharge?
This experiential program from the ASID San Diego Health, Wellness & Sustainability Committee explores the relationship among sleep, sensory design, and the restorative home. We’ll examine emerging wellness trends and practical design strategies that support healthy sleep and relaxation, from lighting, acoustics, temperature, materials, color, and biophilic elements to the growing desire for dedicated restorative spaces within the home.
An immersive sound bath experience gives attendees the opportunity to experience firsthand how sound and the sensory environment can influence relaxation and well-being.
The presentation: “Why Rest Matters” transitions into “Designing for Sleep,” expands into “The Restorative Home,” and finishes with “Designing for the Senses.” Everyone will experience these principles through the sound bath.
"Rest is not simply the absence of activity. It is something we can intentionally design for."
